Report By Kevin W Owen
United
youngsters battle to gain a point @ Hollywell
United
were really looking forward to this match, in order to
get last weeks results and performance well and truly
out of their heads.
United's
squad had a very young look to it for this encounter,
youngsters Gwyn Pritchard Jones returned following a month
out with an ankle injury, Mathew Phillips was home from
college, his brother Gethin Phillips got a call up from
the Reserves on his 18th Birthday and Gethin Green and
Sion Eifion Jones were drafted in from the Reserves as
cover.
Long
term injury absentee goalkeeper Aled Williams has still
not recovered and is a worry for the Eithin Duon faithful.
Also missing was experience quartet - midfielder Carl
Wayne Jones due to suspension - full-back Christian Jarvis
due to a niggling knee injury - central defender Martin
Bohana due to family commitments and striker Gavin Edwards
due to a Motor Rally commitment.
The
match was evenly poised throughout, with both sets of
players performing well on a very heavy pitch at Halkyn
Road. The hosts got the breakthrough on 75minutes, United
failed to clear a corner from the right, and the ball
fell for Gareth Henley, and the midfielder's unstoppable
drive from the edge of the penalty found the left hand
corner of the United's net.
Different
to last week United showed heart and team spirit and were
soon rewarded when the impressive Mathew Phillips fired
a fine drive from just within the penalty area to the
bottom left hand corner of the net to give United a well
deserved share of the spoils.
A
whole hearted team performance, with the youngsters performing
well with a man of the match performance by striker Gareth
Eifion Jones running his socks of for his teammates.
