United
back to winning ways @ Eithin Duon
United gained
the maximum three point against a spirited Holywell Town
outfit at Eithin Duon. Missing due to injury was midfielder
Carl Wayne Jones, with enabled Robert H Williams to get
his first start for the club.
The early stages
belonged to the Wellmen, as they dominated possession
and created several good goal scoring opportunities. And
it was no surprise to everyone when Gareth Henley gave
them the lead with a well taken goal on the quarter of
the hour mark. This was the wake up call for United, as
from this moment on United switched on and dominated the
proceedings, and restricted the visitors to a couple of
breakaway sorties.
United drew
level on thirty two minutes, Richard Evans at the far
post finding the back of the Wellmen's net, following
a fine run and a low cross by club captain David Noel
Williams. At this stage United were playing some attractive
and neat passing football, and were soon rewarded on thirty
eight minutes. Striker Richard Evans holding the ball
well on the left hand corner of the pitch, passing the
ball back to full back Christian Jarvis, who perfect cross
found the head of midfielder Mathew Phillips, which Andrew
Hughes the Wellmen's keeper could only pare to the path
of on coming striker Carl Griffiths to find the back of
the net with a fine strike.
Following the
interval United started off as they finished the first
half, well in control and dominating proceedings, and
were soon rewarded on fifty five minutes, a throw in by
David Noel Williams released Robert H Williams down the
right flank, his excellent cross found Mathew Phillips
unmarked at the far post to extend United's advantage
with a fine header.
Striker Carl
Griffths put the encounter beyond the Wellmen on sixty
five minutes, scoring his second goal of the match, a
cool finish following an excellent throw ball by young
full back Gwyn P Jones.
United could
and should of scored more goals, despite creating several
good goal scoring opportunities the failed to find the
back of the Wellmen's net, due to some fine saves and
woeful finishing.
Due to the
Wales national side fixture next weekend, United next
match is a Welsh Alliance League encounter at Rhyl's Belle
Vue ground on Tuesday the 9th September, kick off 7:30pm.
