UNITED'S
LATE STRIKES GAIN WIN @JUNCTION
United
commenced their Welsh Alliance League campaign with a
hard fought 2-0 win at Llandudno Junction. Despite a few
goal scoring opportunities at both ends during the first
half both side failed to find the back of the net, United
striker Carl Griffths brought a fine save from Joseph
Welsh on the half hour mark.
Junction
piled on the pressure on United's goal following the resumption,
but United's rearguard held firm and weathered the storm.
As the match developed to its final quarter United's experience
showed.
On
seventy nine minutes midfielder Dan Pyrs through ball
realised striker Mathew Phillips, his fine run to the
by-line and excellent pass to the on coming Carl Griffiths,
who coolly placed the ball in the bottom corner of the
net to produce the breakthrough for United.
United
made sure of the three points on eighty six minutes, a
fine individual well taken goal by captain David Noel
Williams. Receiving the ball in the left hand corner of
the pitch, his run down the by-line evading a couple of
defenders and coolly lifting the ball beyond the Junction
keeper was well worth waiting for.
United
welcome Llanrwst United to Eithin Duon on Saturday for
a Welsh Alliance League encounter.
