United
got back to winning ways at a very wet and windswept Eithin
Duon
On
Saturday, United were in SEVENTH heaven when they
thrashed Llanllyfni by SEVEN goals to one, in their
SEVENTH league outing having started the day SEVENTH
in the league and finished in sixth but with a goal difference
of SEVEN!
Having
lost the previous four games with a number of absentees,
it was pleasing to see the return of a number of regulars.
Back in were Gavin Edwards (from injury), Carl Griffiths
(from suspension), Andrew Williams (from holiday) &
Robert Williams (from family commitments), and all four
proved decisive in the demolition job. Still absent with
injuries were Aled Williams and Carl Wayne Jones and Richie
Evans seems to have gone AWOL!
Andy
Williams opened the scoring on 4 minutes, when a David
Noel shot could only be parried into the path of United's
Andrew Williams by the visiting keeper, Llanllyni's player
manager, Kevin Sheret and Andy made no mistake from six
yards out.
United's
second came from fit again Gavin Edwards, his first of
four and a breath of fresh air to see someone willing
to shoot from distance instead of trying to walk the ball
into the net. A Martin Bohana through ball saw Dan Pyrs
pull the ball back for Gavin to coolly find the back of
the net.
United
had numerous efforts cleared off the line by Llanllyfni's
Kevin Sheret, and the tally could have and maybe should
have been in double figures. Trailing by two goals, the
visitors were server a bitter blow on 29 minutes when
Chris Parry was sent off by Amlwch's Hugh Jones, receiving
a booking for his challenge but the exchange of words
saw him given his marching orders. If Llanllyfni were
struggling against the wind with 11 men, the upward hill
suddenly got steeper, and it only took United's Gavin
Edwards 9 minutes to increase the lead, a David Noel throw-in
to Chris Joyce was returned to David Noel who skipped
passed Llanllyfni defence to lay cross into the path of
Gavin Edwards who made no mistake. 3 - 0 & HT.
Playing
uphill and against the wind for the second half, United
continued very much with the same tempo as the finished
the first, and on 57 minutes both Gavin Edwards and David
Noel struck the bar in a double blow, but 3 minutes later,
Robert Williams latched on to an Andy Williams cross and
found the back of the visitors net, 4 - 0.
Llanllyfni's
response was immediate; from the kick-off United's Luke
Hughes was caught off his line and was chipped from around
25 yards by Adrian Griffiths, 4 - 1 after 61 minutes.
United continued with the pressure on the visitors goal,
and Kevin Sheret pulled off some fine saves, but on 73
minutes, Dan Pyrs scored for the second week on the run,
nothing special (!), but he linked on to Gareth Eifion's
pass and must have missed kicked, because he doesn't usually
score (!), to be honest I didn't see it, but I'm sure
it was spectacular, because he didn't stop talking about
it!!!! 5 - 1.
Gavin
Edwards scored his hat-trick on 83 minutes, a move started
by Carl Griffiths from his own half, saw Robert Williams'
dummy catch the visitors defence out, which released Gavin
on goal, and yet again he made no mistake, 6 - 1.
It
was only fitting that Gavin should round off the scoring,
and that he did a minute from time, a David Noel corner
saw Gavin strike low at the near post, 7 - 1 and game
over. Despite his four goals, the Man of the Match went
once again to Dan Pyrs, and having also scored the Chairman's
wallet was another £10.00 lighter by the end of
the afternoon!!
I'm
sure Aled Owen was pleased to see the return of many regular
back in the fold, but with no fixture next weekend due
to Wales' International at Cardiff, United must continue
with the determination the following week when Pwllheli
are the visitors to Eithin Duon, for a third encounter
in five weeks, with Pwllheli having won the first two!
