UNITED BATTLE HARD BUT CITY GAIN THE WIN…..
United Reserves first outing since the 19 th December was a very hard task on any given Saturday against the league runaway leaders Bangor City Reserves, on a very heavy pitch at Eithin Duon. United came away from the encounter pointless for their endeavours, but their pride was intact and each and everyone can hold their heads up high for a fine spirited and hard working performance.
But things could have been much more different, if United were sharper and more clinical in taking their chances as their created several good goal scoring opportunities throughout the encounter.
United fell behind on 19 minutes, when City’s striker Steven Jones found himself through on goal from the halfway line, following a bad mistimed headed challenge by United rearguard. Jones made no mistake by slotting the ball beyond the advancing United’s keeper Aled Williams and into the net to give City the advantage.
City’s midfielder Aaron Richmond could not believe his luck on 67 minutes, from three yards out he coolly placed an unchallenged header direct from a corner from the left into United net, to double City’s advantage.
A hard fought battling performance by United, but two basic mistakes proved to be very costly.
United’s Reserves can gain revenge next week when they face Bangor City in a Gwynedd Safeflue Cup 1 st Round tie at Farrar Road.
