UNITED’S LATE SURGE TO GAIN A FINE WIN…..

United’s Reserves continued there winning ways with a stunning away win against current league leaders Felinheli, to gain the maximum three points in a hard fought encounter at Cae Seilo.

Changes form last week, the experienced goalkeeper Aled Williams was unavailable; therefore Luke Hughes got his first start of the season. Into midfield came Ceirion Williams and youngster Gethin Green, and the Caeathro striking duo Gareth Griffiths and Rhys Roberts as forwards. The squad was bolstered by the return from holiday of veteran Bedwyr Evans and young brothers Martin and Ian Williams.

The hosts scored the opener six minutes before the interval, a costly handling error by United keeper Luke Hughes gifted striker Rhys Parry the opportunity to give his side the advantage, which he duly took.

The goals that mattered were scored in the final ten minutes of this thrilling encounter, the appearance of substitutes Martin and Ian Williams turned this match on its head in favour of United. A mistimed tackle from the host full-back on United’s Martin Williams on eighty minutes, just inside the penalty area on the left, gave United a golden opportunity to equalise from the penalty spot. Striker Gareth Griffiths made no mistake a powerful low drive into the bottom corner as the keeper dived the other way.

United’s tails were now well and truly up, youngster Ian Williams made an impact on the right hand side of United’s midfield, and his 50-50 challenge with the advancing host keeper at the edge of the penalty area, created the golden opportunity for striker Rhys Roberts to lob the ball into the empty net from thirty yards out to seal the maximum three point for United.

Despite being under severe pressure for the last five minute of the encounter, the United rearguard held firm and were well marshalled by Liam Robertson and captain Keith Williams.
