UNITED SLUM TOO HEAVY DEFEAT…..
This season United have found there jinx team very very early in the campaign, two heavy defeats to newly promoted Division Two Champions Mountain Rangers within their first four fixtures.
If there ever was an off day this was it, United were coming into this match on a high following two fine wins against much fancied Talysarn Celts and Felinheli, despite dominating possession in the early exchanges United fell behind against the run of play, two long searching balls deep from their own half created havoc in United’s rearguard, and striker Scott Hughes made no mistake from the gifted opportunities to grab a brace on ten and twenty one minutes.
United were back in the contest on thirty two minutes, when Gareth Griffiths picked himself up to score from the penalty spot. But within two minutes a costly blunder by United’s experienced defender Iwan Parry gave Richard Bradley the oppertunity which he duly took, with a thundering strike from an acute angle on the left.
United introduced defender Gwion Llwyd at the interval, following the loss of their captain Keith Williams through injury. United came out blazing but despite heavy pressure the host defence held firm. The host counter attacks paid dividends, Scott Hughes grabbed his hat-trick on seventy minutes and Richard Bradley with a thunderous strike to the top corner of the net from just outside the penalty area on seventy nine minutes sealed the win and a the precious three point to a spirited Rangers outfit.
