UNITED’S OPENER COLLAPSE…..
United started the match well but faltered badly in the last thirty minutes.
Despite the opening day set-back United manager Kevin Owen was well encouraged by several aspects of his teams performance, “I aim to field several youngsters this season and with the guide and encouragement of the management team and the experienced players, they will learn from there mistakes and gain valuable match day experience”.
“Regrettably we had a few problems with injuries during the match, but a big plus is that sixteen year old centre back Iwan Price had a full ninety minutes on his debut for the club, and judging from his first encounter, I don’t think he will be playing for the Reserves much again, which makes my job a lot more rewarding”.
Gavin Owen proved to be the match hero for Rangers, netting four times for his side, in the last half hour of the match.
