Erthygyl Eco Wyddfa (Medi, 1986)

Nid ar y maes chware'n unig y gwelir cyffro yn hanes y clwb yma, gan fod y fenter o adeiladu ystafelloedd newid a phwyllgor ar y maes wedi mynd ag oriau o lafur eisioes.

Penodwyd Mike Kennedy yn rheolwr-chwaraewr y tim cyntaf. Chwaraewr canol-cae yw Mike a chanddo profiad o chware a thimau yn Lloegr, yn ogystal a Hirael, Porthaethwy a'r Felinheli. Yn wir, roedd yn aelod o dim Felinheli a ennillodd y gynghrair Gwynedd yn 1983-1984. Mae'n gweithio fel peiriannydd sifil yn Lloegr, ac yn teithio adref i'w gartref yn Llanllechid, ac i chware i Lanrug bob pen-wythnos.

Ymysg y rhai a arwyddwyd ganddo mae'r gôl-geidwad, Gary Thomas (wedi chware i Lanfairfechan); Kevin Williams o Lanrug (Llanrug a Felinheli); Alan Williams (Porthmadog a Nantlle Vale); Richard (Dic) Williams (Porthaethwy a Bethesda); David Brailsford o Ddeiniolen (Llanrug a Bontnewydd) a Kevin Wyn Owen o Bontnewydd yn gefnwyr. Yng nghanol y cae bydd Mike ei hun, Nick Hopkins (Porthmadog); Robert Morris o Rhostryfan; Gwynfor Owen (Bethesda, Caernarfon ymysg eraill) ; Adrian Wakeham (Deiniolen) a Sel Allsup (Llanberis, Llanfairfechan a nifer o dimau eraill), y ddau o Lanberis. Ymysg yr ymosodwyr, Colin Jones o Fethesda (Deiniolen); Dilwyn John Williams o Benisarwaun; Hefin Williams o Bontnewydd; John Williams, Hefin Pritchard a Gwyn Morris o Lanrug.

Bydd holl chwaraewyr yr ail dim hefyd, wrth gwrs, a r gael iddo. Gobeithia Mike wneud yn dda yn ei dymor cyntaf fel rheolwr Llanrug yn y gynghrair newydd yma, a chafwyd dechrau rhagorol. Byddent yn cystadlu hefyd am Gwpanau Barritt.

Llanrug United's 1st Match in the re-formed Gwynedd Football League

Gwynedd League - 23rd August,1986.

Llanrug United 6 - 0 Conwy United

Llanrug United were the six-hit specialists on the opening day of the Gwynedd Football League's season, punishing Conwy United at the Eithin Duon. It was an impressive performance all-round, and well balanced, with three goals being collected in each half. Full-back and Captain Kevin Williams blasted a 20-yarder to get the show on the road in the 37th minute and then, taking the hint, Hefin Pritchard used his head to good effect three minutes later.

There was no stopping Llanrug around this stage and Gwyn Morris enjoyed a close range tap-in within seconds of the half-time whistle. The Morrises became the dominant personalities of the second spell, when Robert Morris headed goal number four on the hour and then Gwyn Morris achieved a hat-trick with extra efforts on target after 85 and 89 minutes. He steered a 12 yards drive into the Conwy net and then converted a penalty, after team-mate Hefin Pritchard had been fouled.

There was one black mark on the proceedings, two players were sent off. With half an hour gone Llanrug's Dilwyn John Williams and Conwy's Darren Herbet got tangled up in a skirmish and the referee Arwel Jones from Caernarfon ordered an early bath for both.

Caernarfon & District League - 16th August,1986.

Penrhyndeudraeth 4 - 5 Llanrug United Reserves

Llanrug United Reserves made a great start to the new season in the Sain Caernarfon & District League on Saturday when they pipped Penrhyndeudraeth, League Champions for the last two seasons 5 - 4 at Penrhyn. Llanrug were 4 - 2 down at the interval but they staged a fine fight-back to get the verdict against the title-holders.

It was an excellent game full of lively exchanges which kept the interest of the spectators throughout. Penrhyn went ahead after 12 minutes with an own goal by a Llanrug defender, and a minute later Alan Thomas put them two up. Llanrug hit back with a goal by Gwyn Morris in the 19th minute. In the last five minutes before the break the spectators were treated to three quick goals, Malcom Williams, the former Pwllheli player, made it 3 - 1 for Penrhyn in the 40th minute.Three minutes later Kevin Owen pulled one back for Llanrug but in the fading seconds of the first half Nigel Smith, the champions top scorer last season, restored the two goals gap for Penrhyn.

Llanrug came back strongly in the second half. Gary Davies headed home their third goal following a corner kick a minute after the break. On the hour Gwyn Morris brought them on terms and ten minutes from the end Robert Morris notched their fifth goal for a well deserved victory.
